On August 12th (local time), Microsoft announced that there was a problem with the Windows security update "KB5012170" released on August 9th. The installation may fail with the error 0x800f0922.
KB5012170 is a response to a vulnerability found in Secure Boot that may allow malicious software to be loaded by bypassing security functions. The installation problem occurs only in this KB5012170, and it is said that it does not affect the cumulative security update released on the same day or the function update.
The cause is currently under investigation, but there is a possibility that the problem can be avoided by updating the UEFI BIOS to the latest version before installing KB5012170.
